If you would ask me, what makeup needs to be as OC as it can be? My answer is eyebrows! Those little arches can make or break your whole makeup look! A lot of cosmetic companies, locally or internationally, have several eyebrow products. There are eyebrow pencil, eyebrow powder, eyebrow tint, eyebrow marker, eyebrow mascara and the like. I've been using pencil and powder when I first started using eyebrow makeup. Well, that's what I've learned from youtube tutorials back then. As I was experimenting with my arches, I realized that my eyebrow hair and color of my brows does not blend. And that's the reason why I discovered and started using eyebrow tint/gel.

The first eyebrow Gel that I used are Jazzy Collection's Eyebrow Gel and Etude House eyebrow gel. They have the same price but I prefer the latter. It costs 300+ pesos! It's mabigat sa bulsa (expensive) for students like me. Luckily, local brands here in the Philippines did an innovation of their eyebrow products, One of which is Fashion 21! Let's start with the review, shall we?

Packaging:
The product is contained in a clear tube packaging which is a plus (for me) because you can see the shade of the product and you can also tell the remaining products in it. There were no claims printed on the packaging neither on its box - though actually it has no box.

Its tube cap has a gold color which made it look classy or sosyalin. I also love the minimalist design imprinted on the product.

Price:
165 pesos

Net Wt:
8g

Availability:
I availed mine at Landmark Trinoma but it is available at Fashion 21 cosmetics counter, Watsons

Pigmentation:
It is not that pigmented compared to my old browgels.

Shade:
The shade that I got is in light brown. Though I have black hair, I prefer the shade of light brown for I have bushy-black-thick-strand-brows!

Swatch:
It has a slight micro-shimmer which is noticeable when applied onto the back of my hand. It may look lighter than what it is preferred for black-haired people, but I tell you, this is a perfect shade! Trust me! I got your back peeps!

Applicator / Wand:
As you can see, the wand is thin and dense. I prefer this kind of wand for a browgel. It makes the application easy 'coz it picks up not much product, just enough.

Waterproof?
I did a waterproof test to know whether this product can withstand my sweaty brows! Unluckily, its not. Even with just a drop of water, you will see that the product fades. Then I tried to wipe it of, here's the result:

Tadaaaaa! No product remained. :( It compeletely went off. I can clearly say that this product is not waterproof and it's not advisable for those people who have sweaty brows.

Smudge-proof?
I try smudging it after it sets. Here are the results:

First try: (smudging the product with a very light hand)
As you can see, it didn't smudge at all. There's still a hint of product in it.

Second try: (smudging it with a bit pressure)
The color faded compared to the first one. But the color is still visible.

Third try: (smudging it with a full force)
Some parts had faded but the product is still there.

Application:
  • Used the product alone without any eyebrow pencil etc.. (right pic)
    • slightly tamed my unruly brows
    • added a hint of color
    • lighten my brows

  • Used alone but double coat (left pic)
    • tamed brows
    • better color payoff
    • fuller looking brows

  •  Used with an eyebrow pencil for outlining and eyebrow powder for filling it in. (right pic)
    • tamer brows
    • cleaner looking
    • better when used with other products in it

Final Verdict:
Fashion 21 Eyebrow Gel is good for everyday use. Though it is not waterproof, its wins the criteria of being smudge-proof. For its price, it's comparable to those expensive eyebrow gels in the market. But the cons is it doesn't stay too long. If you have unruly brows like mine, I suggest that you do your current brow routine and top it off with this product. But, if you have thin but well-groomed brows, you can use this alone. All in all, I rate this product 4/5 for I saved a lot of money for my browgel but it does the job well.
